Clivia caulescens

Clivia caulescens is a lesser known relative to clivia miniata.  This clivia flowers in Summer whereas clivia miniata tend to flower from Winter to Spring and clivia gardenii tend to flower in Autumn.  It typically has pendulous salmon to orange florets that hang downward gracefully and have contrasting green tips. There are usually 15 to 20 blooms in each umbel. The plants can flower as early as four years.

It has thick, strap-like leaves that grow 2 feet long or more. A feature of this species is that as the plant ages it develops a noticeable trunk.  Caulescens is easy to grow and has similar requirements to clivia miniata.
