Pastels can come in a range of colour variations from pink pastels to orange/yellow pastels. Unfortunately there is no exact science to breeding pastels and plants that flower pastel shades usually command higher prices than the creams or yellows due to their scarcity. We have found crossing a pastel clivia over a cream or yellow will produce a high incidence of orange flowering progeny. There is a higher probability of getting a pastel by crossing a pastel flowering clivia over another pastel. In the gallery section are some pictures of some crosses that have flowered for us. Please remember that as they are seed based so a range of seedling types are possible, some may be similar to original parent plants whilst others can be quite different.
These seedlings have three to four leaves and were created crossing a pastel clivia over another pastel clivia. It is not known what percentage of these seedlings will flower pastel as opposed to orange but a higher percentage are expected to flower pastel rather than orange. Price:

These seedlings have three to four leaves and were created crossing a pastel clivia over another pastel clivia. These seedlings are shown in 140mm pots and have unpigmented bases which may indicate that they may flower yellow or some dilute colour. Price:

This is a cross between a green centre Pastel No. 12 (Orange x Yellow) x Yellow and green centre Pastel No. 13 (Orange x Yellow) x Yellow. A picture of the green centre pastel No.12 is shown. As with all seed grown clivia the outcome of this combination is not known and are priced accordingly. These seedlings have pigmented bases and are about 12 months old and have 3 to 4 leaves.
