Clivia caulescens is an evergreen clivia with spreading floppy leaves which can reach as much as 1.8 metres in length. A feature of this plants is as the plant ages it develops a noticeable green "cane like" trunk. It flowers from late Summer to Autumn with scapes to 45 cm in height. The inflorescence consists of 15-20 pendulous salmon to orange flowers with contrasting green tips. Some caulescens flowers can also range from yellow to blush in colour. It cultivation it requires a frost free area with light shade in a well drained garden. It will attract birds to gardens when in flower.
